Questions about pricing and the trial
Do we need technical knowledge to use Värn?
No. You need to be able to add a DNS record with your domain provider (or ask your IT partner to do it). Every finding is explained in plain language: why it matters and concrete steps an IT consultant can follow.
Can Värn scan any domain?
No. Before anything is checked, you have to prove that you control the domain by publishing a unique DNS TXT record. Subdomains can only be added under a verified domain, and ownership is checked again automatically every 30 days.
Do the checks affect our website or email?
No. Värn only makes the ordinary requests a browser or mail server would make: DNS lookups, TLS handshakes and HTTP requests to the home page. No passwords are tried, no forms are submitted and no vulnerabilities are exploited.
Is this a penetration test?
No. Värn is continuous, external and passive monitoring of configuration and exposure. It complements, but does not replace, penetration tests, vulnerability scanning of internal systems or reviews of application logic.
Does Värn make us NIS2 or ISO 27001 certified?
No, and no tool can. Värn gives you documentation, a risk register and time-stamped evidence you can use in your work with NIS2, GDPR and ISO/IEC 27001. The mapping to the frameworks is for guidance.
What data about breaches do you store?
Breach monitoring is coming soon and is not switched on yet. Once it runs, we store only which breach it is, which types of data were exposed and which accounts on your verified domain are affected. Passwords and other leaked data are never stored.
How does the free trial work?
You get 30 days of the Business plan without a payment card. After the trial you choose a subscription. If you stop, monitoring ends, and you can export and delete all your data yourselves under Settings.
